Allium - Schubertii, 2 Pack
SCHUBERTII
- Late spring flowering
- Fragrant
- 2Ā Pack
- GreatĀ for naturalizing and as cut flowers
- Zone 5
Allium āSchubertiiā (a.k.a. āSchubertās Alliumā or the ātumbleweed onionā) sports a 12-inch wide bloom comprised of many small, pink star-shaped florets. These fragrant florets are less densely packed than what is usual for alliums, providing a unique look that is sure to stand out! Easily grown in rich, sandy to gritty, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun. Plants will naturalize to form dense, slowly-spreading clumps over time. They perform best in sun but can handle a bit of shade. Established plantings have good drought tolerance. Plant new bulbs 4" deep and 8" apart in the fall (Sept-Dec) for a late Spring (May - June) bloom. This easy-to-grow variety is resistant to deer, however, note that alliums are poisonous if ingested by pets. Add āSchubertiiā to cut flower arrangements, whether fresh or dried, to make any bouquet āpopā!
